Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, received his counterpart from Níger, Ibrahim Yacoubou, reported the account in Twitter of the Cuban Foreign Ministry Office Monday.

The Secretary of State, Cooperation, African and Niger Integration of Niger, repeated the rejection to the economic, financial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Yacoubou highlighted that the opening of the Embassy of Níger in Cuba programmed for this Monday, will help to strengthen the cooperation connections.

‘We have much to learn of you, especially on the subject of education and public health,’ the African diplomat underlined.

In turn, the Cuban Foreign Minister tackled the long and narrow relation between the two countries, while he emphasized the decision to open the Nigerien diplomatic representation in Havana.

Rodríguez added that the diplomatic relations with this African nation are in a promissory moment with the visit by Yacoubou. Rodriguez was grateful for the support of Níger and the African Union to the claim for the raising of the US blockade against Cuba.

Cuba and Níger established diplomatic relations in 1976 and at present they maintain strong cooperation connections promoted in spheres like health, sport and education.

Official data say that the Cuban medical presence in Níger started in 1999 under the system of the Public Health Integral Program.
