UNESCO Director General visits Sierra del Rosario

ARTEMISA, Cuba. – The Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Audrey Azoulay toured the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve in Artemisa as part of her visit to Cuba.

In the mountain system, the head of the multilateral agency recognized the work of the island in the preservation and management of biodiversity.

Radio Artemisa website reports that Doctor of Science Fidel Hernandez Figuerola explained to Audrey Azoulay the characteristics of the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, a Protected Area of Managed Resources.

In addition, the Director-General of UNESCO in her tour of Sierra del Rosario this Friday, said it is necessary to extend the country’s results and practices in environmental education.
