The State is legally reordered

HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuban Minister of Justice Oscar Silvera advanced that work is being carried out on the elaboration of laws such as the Family Code, Protection of Personal Data and Criminal Procedure, among others.

In a meeting prior to the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, attended by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, the Minister explained they also develop other laws related to the implementation of the Guidelines, such as that of Public Health, Copyright, Housing, Tourism, Education and Territorial Order, among others.

Silvera announced that in December the laws on the Functioning of the National Assembly and the Council of State should be discussed, as well as the work of the Municipal Assemblies, in addition to the Regulations of Citizen Law and the Foreign Service.

The Minister of Justice recalled that Fisheries, National symbols and Electoral Laws were already passed.

Arduous and Inescapable Task

Justice Minister Oscar Silvera said one of the current most important challenges for the country is the inescapable and necessary elaboration and passage of laws updating the Cuban legal system.

We are in the final phase of the process of identifying the exact amount, type of standard and date of approval, the Minister said in a meeting with parliamentarians, prior to the Special Session of the National Assembly.

The official stated that most are existing laws which must be modified, although others are new and without a precedent in national history, but work is being done to get the majority passed in the current legislature.

The Minister of Justice said this is a complex process due to the number of laws to pass, the short time, the complexity of each legislation and the high expectations of population, managers and academics.

To Legislate Promptly and with Quality

The Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana, Dr. Marta Moreno, referred to the intense legislative activity facing the country that requires agility, but also quality.

Prior to the extraordinary session of the National Assembly tomorrow, the leading professor insisted on the role of law as a transformer in the life of a country, adding that an extensive training plan is designed in career in Law of all provinces.

Dr. Moreno explained that in the legal system there are key principles to be respected, such as the supremacy of the Constitution, hierarchy of rules, systemic character, legality and coherence.
