Havana, Cuba.- Investments in the Cuban agri-food sector have maintained an average annual growth of 14 percent in the last seven years, informed today the Minister of Agriculture (MInag), Gustavo Rodríguez.

Such investments include 21 development programs with approved feasibility studies, which are systematically updated, stated the minister when he officially opened the 21st International Fair of Food and Agriculture Fiagrop 2018, in the Rancho Boyeros exhibition center in the capital.

The official also noted that the financing allocated to investments increases compared to the previous year, despite the economic difficulties the country is facing.

According to Rodríguez, there is currently a business portfolio with foreign investment of 86 projects in the various branches of the sector, which favors business with suppliers of technologies and inputs.

It also promotes agro-industrial projects that increase efficiency in the different forms of production, with the aim of increasing efficiency and substituting imports.

The minister pointed out that direct foreign investment and timely collaboration and donations represent an important option for the growth of the sector.
