Havana, Cuba.-Cuban tourism works to contribute to the national economic and social development through a broad investment process and the improvement of services.

This was stated by Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero to Prensa Latina, in the context of the Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), which concluded today in this capital.

The 7th Congress of the Communist Party drew 8 guidelines on tourism that integrated 14 previously passed, and one is added having to do with the relation of culture and tourism, the Minister mentioned.

These road maps envision the role tourism must play in the economic and social development of the country as, in many cases, it has been classified as the locomotive of the economy since tourism also boosts other economic sectors.

For all the development potential tourism has and the key role it plays in the economy, a national commission was recently set up under his leadership, and it includes another seven ministers. It’s a body entrusted with stimulating and assuring the growth of tourism, he emphasized.
