Beijing, China.- The Cuban delegation to the second International Exhibition of Imports and Exports of China fulfilled until today an extensive program of activities to promote the island’s leading offers prior to the important event.

Diplomatic sources confirmed to Prensa Latina that last Thursday, the 15th session of the Business Committee between the two countries had the presence of authorities of the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and from Cuba, the Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Caribbean state.

In addition, 170 businessmen from both nations were present.

Cuban representatives toured the Yangshan Free Trade Port Zone on Friday, got first-hand acquainted with existing facilities for electronic operations and the areas of the world’s largest container terminal.

The island will show its strength in goods and services in sectors such as agribusiness, biopharmacy, health, mining, energy, construction, science, culture and education at the Chinese fair.

The official delegation is headed by the Minister of Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo, who told Prensa Latina they will take advantage of the exhibition framework to build-up bilateral ties, exchange and promote their strength in the aforementioned areas.

The commercial stock exchange will bring together three thousand national and foreign companies from Shanghai from November 5 to 10, seeking to increase the market’s delivery quotas for the second power of the world.

It is seen as a beacon that China turns on so that trade between different continents flows free, balanced and with greater access at a time when protectionism overshadows the world economy.

President Xi Jinping launched the idea in May 2017 to widen the level of openness, while the Asian nation replaces the fast-growing model with one of high-quality, environmentally friendly development, with priority in technological innovation and domestic consumption.
