President of Cuba meets with Patriarch Kirill

MOSCOW, Russia. – The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, spoke this Wednesday with Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, as part of a final stage of his working visit to Russia.

The meeting was held shortly before the end of Diaz-Canel´s second stay in that nation, and the first one after his election as President of Cuba.

On Tuesday, the Cuban head of State had an intense day, which included meetings with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, at the government’s Protocol Palace, and with his counterpart Vladimir Putin at the residence of Novo Ogariovo.

According to reports from Prensa Latina news agency, Putin emphasized that the two countries continue contacts at the highest levels, cooperate and actively support each other internationally, and stated he would gladly accept the invitation to visit Cuban territory.

Diaz-Canel Meets Intense Program in Moscow

During the working meeting on Tuesday between Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel and the Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, they verified the excellent state of economic-trade cooperation and reviewed the projects under way and in perspective.

Cuba’s head of State also visited Zariadie Park, near the Kremlin, where he enjoyed a demonstration in 5D of the main places in Russia, and the Tretyakov Gallery, while touring Arbat Boulevard.

On Tuesday, Diaz-Canel also met with Russian entrepreneurs, where they reviewed the status of joint projects in the construction of oil facilities on the island with Russian cooperation.

He also exchanged with Cuban citizens residing in the Eurasian nation, who raised concerns about issues of that community and interaction with Cuba.
