It is Guterres’s first visit to Cuba.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Secretary General of the United Nations Organization (UN), Antonio Guterres, will soon have a meeting with the newly elected President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, as part of his next official visit to Havana.

Next Monday, the Portuguese diplomat will travel to the Cuban capital for the thirty-seventh session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and will talk with the Cuban President, Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman of the maximum UN representative, announced.

According to the spokesman, it is Guterres’s first visit to Cuba, since he took office at the United Nations last year.

The thirty-seventh session of ECLAC will take place in Havana from May 7 to 11, with the attendance of more than 25 ministers, Vice-ministers and other high authorities from some 20 countries in the region.
