Central ceremony for the anniversary 65th of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks.

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba.- With the presence of Army General Raul Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Miguel Diaz Canel, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, it was held in Santiago de Cuba the central ceremony for the anniversary 65th of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks.

In the esplanade of the old Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba, today July 26 School City, it was Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, together with thousands of people who reaffirmed their sacred commitment to continue Fidel´s legacy and defend the work of the Revolution.

On this day the Cubans ratified the eternal commitment to the Revolution, Fidel, Raul and all those who offered their lives so that Cuba´s name is always associated to freedom, justice and dignity.

The symbolic and traditional ceremony began at the same time that 105 combatants, moved in 14 cars, tried to occupy in 1953 the Saturnino Lora Hospital, the Palace of Justice and the Moncada barracks, and to demonstrate the popular discontent for Fulgencio Batista´s dictatorship.

At a distance of 127 kilometers, in the city of Bayamo, current capital of the province of Granma, 22 men, only with small caliber shotguns, pistols and revolvers, compensated with their patriotism, effectiveness and intrepidity the weak power of their weapons, with their project to take the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks.
