HAVANA, Cuba.- At the closing of the Ninth Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), to which attended the First Secretary of the Party, Army General Raul Castro, Santiago de Cuba and Pinar del Rio provinces obtained the condition of national vanguard.

The National Executive Secretariat of the largest organization of masses of the island also conferred the distinction of Outstanding to the territories of Granma and Cienfuegos, and recognized the work of the rest of the provinces.

An emotional moment was that when Raul and Susely Morfa, First Secretary of the Young Communist League of Cuba, received some albums with photos of the Ninth Congress of the CDR Youth Detachments.

The Second Party Secretary, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, closed the Congress, whose final sessions he described as very productive.
