HAVANA, Cuba. – The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, met with His Excellency Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

Both exchanged on the need to preserve world peace and security, as well as the principles of International Law, and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Her Excellencies Alicia Barcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean; and Consuelo Vidal, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cuba.

Bruno Rodriguez, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Anayansi Rodriguez, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN were present by the Cuban side.
