Havana, Cuba.-The Cuban President Raul Castro has laid stress on the need to denounce the aggression, sanctions and interference against Venezuela, action taken in a bid to topple the constitutional government of that nation.

During his speech to the plenary session of the National Assembly, the Cuban Head of State assured that some economic interests are currently trying to prevent the continuity of the Revolution initiated by the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 1999.

Many leaders of the protests are the same involved in the 2002 military coup, the 2003 oil coup and in the 2014 violent acts, who justify their actions in the alleged attempt to help Venezuelan people, he said.

According to Raul Castro, the only way to help Venezuelans is to prove full respect for their sovereignty and to encourage them to carry out a constructive and respectful dialogue as the right way to process the differences between them, he added.

Whether they are really concerned about Venezuelan people´s human rights and the integrity, violent coup actions that have caused deaths and injuries should be condemned, he stated.

The Cuban President also stressed that the shocking images displaying how young Venezuelan people were brutally beaten, stabbed or burned alive remind us of the worst acts of fascism.

He also mentioned the Brazilian crisis. We have been watching with concern the current events in Brazil, how Dilma Rousseff was removed from power, and how the Workers’ Party and Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva are being persecuted, he said.

In this regard, and after restating Cuba’s solidarity with the Brazilian people, Raul Castro called for respecting Brazilians´ sovereign will.
