HAVANA, Cuba.- Salvador Sanchez Ceren, President of the Republic of El Salvador, arrived in Havana to pay an official visit to Cuba, which will be extended until next October 27.

At Jose Marti International Airport, Sanchez Ceren was greeted by Rogelio Sierra, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, who welcomed the president of the Central American country and the high-level delegation that accompanies him.

At the recent sessions of the United Nations General Assembly we supported Cuba, we are about to participate in other forums, and we will continue to support the demand that this blockade has to cease, the Central American President told the press.

On his arrival, Sanchez Ceren offered statements about the current state of relations between El Salvador and Cuba, and confirmed the condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government on the island for almost six decades.

Havana and San Salvador restored diplomatic relations in 2009, and since then cooperation between the two countries has spread to areas such as health, education and trade.
