SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba. – His Excellency Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, President of India, began his official visit to Cuba with the homage to national hero Jose Marti, and historical leader Fidel Castro in St. Iphigenia Cemetery of Santiago de Cuba.

On his arrival at Antonio Maceo Airport, the head of State of India was received by Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, vice-president of the Council of State and head of Government in the province.

In St. Iphigenia Cemetery, President Ram Nath Kovind with his wife and the delegation that accompanies him paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, with a floral offering in the granite monolith keeping his ashes.

At the end of the journey through graves of founders of the Fatherland, the Indian President wrote in the guestbook: I will always remember Fidel, a great friend of India who did so much for Non-aligned countries.
