President of Cuban Parliament receives Syrian Ambassador.

HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the National Assembly of People´s Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, received Syrian Ambassador Idris Maya at the Capitol of Havana.

Cuba and Syria have had diplomatic relations for 53 years, with strong ties that unite both peoples. In 2010, Bashar Asad visited the island as a reaffirmation of the indissoluble friendship nexus.

In Cuba, hundreds of Syrian professionals were formed and many of them have scientific categories and bring knowledge to the development of their nation.

For its part, Syria supports the political stances of Havana, and is an invariable defender of the right to self-determination of the Cuban people.
