Cuba Will Continue Supporting the Bolivarian Revolution

The parliamentarians of the Committee on International Relations of the National Assembly of People´s Power endorsed the solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the support to the progressive governments in the area.

Carlos Zamora, director of Latin America and the Caribbean in the Cuban Chancellery, said to the press that Cuban deputies in different parliamentary organizations express the unconditional support to the process of a constituent assembly in Hugo Chavez´s homeland.

To Mitigate Housing Deficits

In a joint session of the Committees of Industry, Constructions and Energy, and Constitutional and Juridical Matters, the deputies evaluated the current state of housing.

The report presented mentioned deficiencies such as delay and poor planning in implementation schedules, inefficient control of the quality of the works, the use of workforce and materials´ sale, in addition to the default in the responses to procedures.

These constraints add to the absence of proceedings to provide state roofs for construction by their own effort and to legalize slums that fulfill the requirements established by law, which accentuates the country’s housing deficit.

To mitigate the situation, the Direction of Housing develops a strategy, which from the Popular Council contributes to the increase of the production of materials and constructive capacities.

Securing Containers, a Priority

The program for the recovery of the food industry´s capacities was a subject this Wednesday in the permanent committees of work of the Cuban Parliament, in a day that generated an extended debate on the deficit of containers and packages in the country.

Industries Vice-minister Eloy Alvarez argued that demand has grown considerably from the increase in agricultural production, and this year amounts to 57 million of containers.

The parliamentarians learned that the industry is able to increase up to 35 million of containers. Of that number, he said, it has been possible to ensure only a little more than 25 million, a situation that implied the adoption of some measures to reduce affectations.
