Havana, Cuba.- President Miguel Diaz-Canel met with his Surinamese counterpart, Desire Delano Bouterse, who is visiting Cuba, the Foreign Ministry reported today.

According to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, which took place on Thursday afternoon, the two leaders reviewed the good state of bilateral relations and discussed regional and international issues of common interest.

They also ratified the decision to continue to strengthen political ties and cooperation.

The Cuban president was accompanied by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

Cuba and Suriname established diplomatic relations on May 31, 1979, on the basis of solidarity and cooperation.
