HAVANA, Cuba. – The South American Conference on Investment in Hospitality and Tourism (SAHIC) began today in Havana with the view in the business opportunities offered by Cuba in the tourism sector, the most dynamic of its economy.

Arturo Garcia, president and founder of SAHIC, welcomed the more than 200 entrepreneurs from about 20 countries, who attend the two-day meeting, based at Melia Cohiba Hotel.

Garcia explained the extensive program of the event will bring participants closer to the Cuban reality and its opportunities for foreign investment in the smokeless industry, whose portfolio includes more than 100 projects.

In the opening ceremony, Alexis Trujillo, Cuban first vice-minister of Tourism, remarked that SAHIC is posed as an inescapable space between those wishing to undertake projects in this field.
