Havana, Cuba.- Human resources is the greatest asset of criminalistics in Cuba, said the head of the Criminalistics Department of the Ministry of the Interior, Colonel Antonio Mesa.

At the opening of the 10th Symposium on Criminalistic Technique at the Convention Palace in Havana, Mesa explained that these events contribute to the improvement of projects and to the professional and socio-cultural preparation of the forces.

In the current world, in the production and development of means and expert technology, the countries with the greatest economic possibilities stand out, and the acquisition of them is extremely expensive, said Mesa.

For Cuba it is something very complex due to the restrictions of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States over half a century ago, the officer added.

The world now is living in a difficult situation, tinged by the complexity of criminal phenomena and increasingly transnational character, Mesa added.

Such a scenario – he emphasized – demands from the forces facing it a better exchange, cohesion and attachment to scientific-technical development.

The meeting will conclude on Thursday, attended by delegates from Peru, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Russia and the United States, among other countries.
