VILLA CLARA, Cuba.- Even though in the last few hours rainfall has declined in Santa Clara, the rains recorded last Saturday and Sunday in that city lead to the evacuation of more than 250 people living in low areas.

Authorities of the Defense Council in that municipality of Villa Clara province specified that the victims were evacuated in solidarity houses and State entities, and more than 40 homes affected by floods were reported.

In Ciego de Ávila province six people were injured and about half a hundred homes were affected by the intense rains of the last hours, associated with Alberto subtropical storm.

Rainfall caused flooding in several municipalities, particularly in Moron, and damaged some 40 hectares of bananas and areas of beans and corn in La Cuba Company.
