HAVANA, Cuba.- Three hundred and thirty eight Cubans will assume for the first time the responsibility of being parliamentarians, and thus was ratified by the millions of voters who attended the polls last Sunday.

Of the total number of parliamentarians elected, 47.4 per cent are constituency delegates, which means that all the municipalities in the country will be represented in the Parliament with at least two of them, and one of them of municipal descent.

With the Conviction of Serving and Representing the People

Of the 605 parliamentarians elected recently, 322 are women, which is equal to more than half. That places the Cuban Parliament as the second in the world with the greatest female participation, surpassed only by Rwanda.

The average age of those who will compose the National Assembly of People´s Power from next April 19 is 49 years old.

All sectors of society will have a presence in the new Parliament, more than 86 percent of the elected has higher education, and black and mestizo represent 40.76 percent.

Undoubtedly, the 605 deputies elected in the elections of March 11 will assume their responsibility with the conviction to serve and represent their people.
