Cuban President touring Havana, 2018.

HAVANA, Cuba. – The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez visited this Wednesday places of social-economic interest in Havana, as part of a two-day tour by the cabinet in the Cuban capital.

The day began in the Dairy Complex Company of Havana, in Cotorro municipality, whose director explained the investment process there that allows to improve the electrical and refrigeration systems, replace two steam boilers and remodel the soy yogurt production line.

The Cuban President underlined the importance of avoiding this industry to return to the deteriorated state it was and insisted on the high impact that dairy products have on the population.

Accompanied by the first Secretary of the Party in Havana, Mercedes Lopez Acea, and Reynaldo Garcia Zapata, President of the provincial government, Diaz-Canel spoke with the workers of the center.

Housing and Sanitation

At another time in the tour, the Cuban President visited the Revolution Community, near Expocuba fairgrounds, where some facilities belonging Villena Revolution Polytechnic Institute are being transforming in145 houses.

During the visit, which was joined by Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana, Diaz-Canel appreciated the comfort of the apartments where education workers and other families will live soon.

Later, the Cuban President visited the Provincial Hygiene Unit, where the director of Communal Services explained the affectations of the equipment for the sanitation of the capital.

In this regard, the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, commented that communal services are prioritized in the Plan of Economy.

Council of Ministers Checks Capital Centers

The day continued with the visit to Martyrs of Porvenir High School, in 10 de Octubre municipality, where Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and Education Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella toured classrooms and laboratories, and exchanged with students and professors about study plans and university entrance exams.

In January 28 Nursing Home, located also 10 de Octubre, the Cuban President knew about the constructive work done to expand capacities, and with Minister of Public Health Roberto Morales Ojeda asked for the care senior citizens receive.

In Lawton Polyclinic, the end of the tour, Diaz-Canel shared with the people who waited there to ratify their support to the Cuban Revolution and the historical continuity he represents.
