Havana, Cuba.- National Electoral Commission (CEN) President Alina Belseiro expressed her satisfaction Tuesday with the results of the dynamic test conducted last Sunday, prior to the February 24 constitutional referendum.

We are satisfied with the results because the exercise was carried out effectively and most of the polling stations had the necessary documentation, Balseiro specified in a press meeting.

According to the authority, work is being done on the difficulties detected so that there are no setbacks during the vote, to which more than eight million Cubans are called to ratify the new constitution.

CEN Secretary Maria Esther Bacallao pointed out that 2.52 percent of the total number of polling stations (25,345) presented some difficulties associated with transportation, communications and lighting, among others, which must be resolved in the coming days.

On the vote abroad, held last weekend, she emphasized that they worked with transparency and total adherence to the law.

Bacallao explained the preliminary results of this process and the February 24 vote will be released on Feb 25 during a press conference.

She also said that the 195 special electoral polling stations are in places where there may be a concentration of people such as hospitals, terminals and hotels.

According to Bacallao, more than 225,000 electoral authorities will participate in the suffrage process and around 200,000 pioneers will guard the ballot boxes.

Cubans are called on February 24 to ratify the new constitution approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power last December.

The constitution is the result of the contribution of the Cuban population that between August 13 and November 15 participated in more than 133,000 meetings in workplaces, study centers and communities to give their opinion on the document.

That consultation, which was also extended to Cubans living abroad, generated around 780,000 suggestions, converted after analysis and processing into 9,600 standard proposals, half of which were incorporated into the constitutional document.
