PARIS, France. – The Cuban delegation to the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) warned this Tuesday about the serious danger posed by nuclear weapons for world peace and the survival of humanity itself, and advocated for a collective responsibility.

In a statement issued on occasion of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, the mission indicated that the problem is particularly urgent in the current international situation, characterized by serious threats to peace and international security.

The text underlines that it is immoral that the 2030 Agenda lacks the means for its implementation, due to selfishness and lack of political will of those who have the most.

In the statement, the Cuban mission to UNESCO described as historic the adoption and signature of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at the United Nations General Assembly.
