HAVANA, Cuba. – The Resolution number 54 of 2018 of the Ministry of Internal Trade, published in the Official Gazette of Cuba, establishes the obligations of suppliers of products services, for the State sphere and for the non-State sector.

The regulation implies natural and legal persons whose primary activity is the sale of products, technical and personal services, gastronomy and accommodation, irrespective of their subordination.

The provision details, in the case of suppliers of the State system, that commit violations, measures punishable in the labor and administrative field.

If the infringement committed implies an offence of the rules of protection to consumers, or any other of those provided for in the Penal code, then the competent authorities for that type of violation would intervene.

To Cuban Consumers

The Resolution No. 54 of 2018 of the Ministry of Internal Trade states that all instances and institutions that must ensure consumer protection are described, and the sites to which people can go if they are dissatisfied with the product or service received.

As of the entry into force of the rule, the agencies and institutions involved in the issue will send to the Ministry of Internal Trade, within a month, the design of their consumer protection systems for subsequent validation.
The Resolution will enter into force after 30 days of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Consumer Protection: No Space for Impunity

The Resolution number 54 of the 2018 that publishes the Official Gazette, referring to the indications for the organization of consumer protection in the internal trading system, visualizes what the aspects to guarantee clients´ rights are.

The purpose is to implement an effective consumer protection system, which includes the conception of the product or service, its design, packaging, packaging and other items.
