alimentos-vegetalesMatanzas City, Cuba.-Eleven thematic issues will be the focus of the 9th Workshop on Science, Technology and Innovation CITAtenas-2016, that will take place in Matanzas from October 4th to 7th, organizers have confirmed.

The meeting will focus on Social Innovation; Current Challenges for Cuban Development; Innovation Functional and Spatial Structures; Cooperation and Networking; Knowledge, Innovation and Industrial Property; Innovation Management in Sustainable Food Production, Production and Value Chains; Knowledge Management and Integrated Management Systems.

The topic of Local Development Focused on Sustainability will also be a matter of analysis.

“We understand the management of science, technology and innovation as social, interactive, and systemic processes, in which policies play a fundamental role”, said Dariel de León García, president of the management committee.

De León told Prensa Latina that “knowledge and innovation should contribute to the creation of capacities and sustainable development”.

“We want CITAtenas-2016 to be a space that gathers scientists, technologist, producers and innovators, so they can exchange experiences and exhibit successful technologies and processes”, he added.

The workshop is sponsored by Cubaâ?Ös Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment and, The Virtual Observatory of Technological Transfer of the University of Alicante, Spain, the Luciano Feijao Faculty from Sao Paulo, Brazil, among others.
