Celso Amorim warned that Brazil is moving away from law and democracy.

BRAZILIA, Brazil.- Former Brazilian Chancellor Celso Amorim said that without the freedom of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, there is no real democracy in Brazil.

On the new foreign policy, Amorim warned that Brazil is moving away from the plane of law, constitution and democracy itself.

The diplomat headed in Lula’s government a foreign policy conducting the South American nation to a leading position as a mediator of conflicts in Latin America and other regions of the world, as happened in the case of the nuclear agreement with Iran in 2010.

Together with Russia, China, India, and South Africa, the BRICS formed a block that gained influence until the parliamentary coup that deposed President Dilma Rousseff and the following events that culminated in the prison of former Labor leader, as well as the election of ultra-right-wing Bolsonaro.
