Washington, United States.- The US government was once again isolated in a new vote at the United Nations General Assembly on the blockade against Cuba, expressed interest here in the affairs of the Caribbean island.

Participants in a presentation by Miguel Fraga, first secretary of the Cuban Embassy in the United States, on bilateral relations also recognized the triumph of the Greater Antilles and the support received.

Recorded by C-SPAN television network that disseminates federal government procedures and public affairs programs, the diplomat’s intervention at the Institute for Policy Studies coincided with the referral made at the headquarters of the multilateral agency in New York.

There, almost the entire world supported the resolution of Cuba that demands the end of the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by Washington almost 60 years ago.

An overwhelming total of 187 countries were in favor of the Cuban claim, and only, the United States, Israel and Brazil expressed their opposition; while Colombia and Ukraine abstained.

No one can say this U.S. policy is for the good of the Cuban people, said Fraga after remembering that it constitutes the main obstacle to the development of his country.

The blockade against Cuba is real, it affects us in all sectors of our lives, although most Americans and Cuban-Americans want its elimination, he stressed.

On the other hand, Fraga also extolled the Cuban victory, which is, he said, the result of the resistance of the people to the constant hostility of Washington.

We want bilateral relations based on respect and goodwill, without impositions from anywhere, reiterated the diplomat, who referred to areas of cooperation between the two countries after being questioned about it.

He said the current decline in the ties of Cuba and the United States due to the various measures of the administration of President Donald Trump against the island does not respond to the desire of the majority.

From mid-June 2017, almost four months after arriving at the White House, Trump began to reverse the approach process aimed at normalizing the bilateral ties that his predecessor, Barack Obama, favored since the end of 2014.

Cuba will continue, said Fraga, whose presentation also addressed multiple achievements of that country in health, education, science, sports and culture after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959
