BARCELONA, Spain. – The president of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, decreed three days of mourning throughout Spain, for the terrorist attack in Barcelona which left at least 13 dead and more than a hundred wounded.

In a press conference from Barcelona, Rajoy explained the mourning will be from August 18 to 20. In addition, the flag will fly at half-mast in all the official buildings and all the ships of the Navy.

We are not only united in mourning, we are above all united in the firm will to vanquish those who want to snatch our values and our model of life, the head of Government said.

Today the fight against terrorism is the main priority of free and open societies like ours, it is a global threat and the answer has to be global, he added.

For his part, the President of the Government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, also decreed three days of mourning throughout the territory.
