LUSAKA. Zambia. – The historical, cultural and social ties uniting Cuba and Africa were evidenced during the commemoration of the Peoples ‘ Day of that continent, which took place in Zambia.

Javier Viamontes, Chargé d’affaires of the Cuban Embassy, remarked the significance of this anniversary for Cubans, twinned with Africans for historical and blood ties.

He said this is the reason for activities in which the African peoples, their culture and common roots are honored, as well as the struggle for independence, unity and regional integration.

The diplomat offered details on solidarity cooperation with Africa since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the support for the movements of liberation and against foreign interference, the struggle of the Cubans in Angola, Ethiopia and Namibia, the medical brigades and the training of African professionals in Cuba.
