Rafael Correa.

BRUSELAS, Belgium.- The former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, criticized this Wednesday the most recent report presented by the Government of the South American nation on the hydrocarbons sector, which denounces failures in Esmeraldas Refinery.

The new controversy in Ecuador was generated after Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno spoke of “scoundrels who have taken the country” at the time of submitting his report, which was particularly rigorous with the operation of the Esmeraldas Refinery.

Ironically, Correa indicated the company responsible for the for the refinery´s construction occupies the place 39 among the best in the world, while the supervisor is the third of the globe.

He also clarified that the repowering did not have a value of $2.2 billion as falsely stated, but 1.2 billion in three years.
