rman Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel condemned this Friday the extraterritorial nature of new US sanctions against Russia, which affect European interests, according to community leaders.
Steffen Seibert, spokesman for the German government, said Merkel considers it unusual for the European economy to end up being an objective of these economic measures, in reference to a bill recently approved by the American Senate.
Seibert highlighted that Merkel supports the content of a joint communiqué by the German Foreign minister, Sigmar Gabriel, which remarks that these new Washington measures against Moscow favor American economic interests.
The document points out that threatening with punishing the European companies present in the American market, affects the relations of that regional bloc with the White House.
