Large forest fire at Spain controlled

CATALONIA, Spain.- The Spanish authorities considered as controlled the devastating forest fire that since last Wednesday affect the Ribera del Ebro region, in northeastern Catalonia.

Hundreds of firefighters and military personnel check this Monday the area affected by the flames, about six thousand hectares of Tarragona province, to detect possible hot spots and prevent the fire from reactivating.

Twenty land teams of the Generalitat Firefighters will take care of these tasks, soaking the obstacles, and three air resources will join them and will fly over the perimeter.

The autonomous community has activated its wildfire emergency plan for the duration of fire-extinguishing work, which spread rapidly due to wind and high temperatures.
