Havana, Cuba.- The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Cuba celebrated on Thursday 40 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, describing the island as a friend and sister nation.

In statements sent Prensa Latina, the diplomatic mission highlighted the shared values of both nations, emerging from ‘rich cultures and historical precedents,’ with independent and popular systems, and forged thanks to their two great ‘revolutionary and anti-imperialist processes.’

The text underlined that Tehran and Havana have faced for decades the pressures of global imperialism, ‘led by the United States of America.’

It continued to note that during these four decades, the two countries have accompanied each other ‘unconditionally and reciprocally’ in all international and political spheres.

The Iranian Embassy remarked that remarkable achievements in the scientific, industrial and technological fields have been seen over these 40 years of fraternal relations.

In this regard, Iranian diplomats noted that this has allowed the two States to share the successes of their scientists and specialists in branches such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, technical services and engineering, to the benefit of their peoples.

The Iranian representation assured that diplomatic exchanges between the two countries ‘will continue in the future,’ which will make it possible to fulfill a ‘higher level of coordination and collaboration’ in the political and economic spheres.

Iranian officials also stressed that global imperialism ‘will never bring Iran or Cuba to their knees,’ and predicted that instead both nations, supported by their capabilities, resistance, shared friendship and unity, will send ‘global imperialism and its minions to the garbage dump of history.’
