The Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, urged to respect Venezuela´s sovereignty in response of the United States and several Governments´ call to ignore the electoral process in which Nicolas Maduro was named as President.

About 600 intellectuals, scholars, artists, teachers, deputies, lawyers, activists, and representatives of the religious sector supported the declaration.

The US government’s claims to a regime change systematically violate the sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people, the document adds.

Finally, the text calls on the international community to non-intervention, to recognize and respect the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people, which continues drawing a path of its own, of peace, guided by its unwaivable right to self-determination and independence.
