Havana, Cuba.- Cuban Vice President José Ramón Machado Ventura received the general secretary of the Farabundo Martí Front for National Liberation of El Salvador (FMLN), Medardo González, who is chairing a delegation from El Salvador to visit the island.

According to a television report, the Salvadoran group’s stay in Cuba responds to an invitation from the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

The note adds that both leaders exchanged in a fraternal atmosphere about the main issues of the regional political conjuncture, experiences in partisan work and, in particular, on the agreements of the 7th Congress of the PCC, held in April 2016.

In addition, the parties ratified the mutual interest to continue deepening the ties that join the two parties and peoples.

According to the report, the head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, José Ramón Balaguer, was also present for Cuba, while the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and secretary of the FMLN organization, José Luis Merino, was present for El Salvador, as also Ambassador Sandra Alvarado.
