Havana, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has on Saturday reiterated his government”s support with the people and government of Venezuela in the face of the new economic sanctions imposed by the United States.

The dignity of the Venezuelan people and the strength of the Bolivarian Revolution are not broken by criminal imperial sanctions, the Cuban leader wrote in his Twitter account.

In the same social network, Diaz-Canel attached a link to an article published this Saturday in the local newspaper Granma that criticizes the U.S. plan against Caracas.

It is not by chance that U.S. governments have made economic and financial sanctions their main weapon before resorting to wars, invasions, bombings, says the publication.

Last week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order freezing all assets of the Venezuelan government and prohibiting transactions with that executive unless there are specific exemptions.

The White House confirmed the measure that authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to impose sanctions on people who support the Maduro Executive, which Washington describes as illegitimate despite the fact that he was reelected in 2018 with 68 percent of the votes.

It also restricts the entry of sanctioned people into the United States.

According to the order, all assets and interests owned by the Venezuelan government that are henceforth in the United States, or in the power or control of any US citizen, are blocked and cannot be transferred, paid for, exported, withdrawn or otherwise negotiate
