Havana, Cuba.- Cuba”s foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez has urged on Thursday to fight for the release of former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

In a message on his Twitter account @BrunoRguezP, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also demanded the cessation of judicial persecution against the former presidents Cristina Fernandez (Argentina) and Dilma Rousseff (Brazil), among others.

Let us unite all the honest political forces of Our America and the planet to the demand for the liberation of Lula and for the cessation of politically motivated judicial persecution against the former president Cristina Fernandez and Dilma Rousseff and other leftist leaders, the foreign minister wrote.

Lula has been serving a sentence of 12 years and a month in the headquarters of the Federal Police of Curitiba, in the southern state of Parana, after being accused of alleged acts of corruption.

Meanwhile, Rousseff and Fernandez have been targets of political and judicial persecution.
