Havana, Cuba.- Cuban First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez met with the minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Palestine, Sabri Saidam, in this capital yesterday night, according to an official report in Granma newspaper. Saidam is visiting Cuba as a special envoy and brought a message from Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas to the president of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Raul Castro Ruz, the official press release says.

‘During the fraternal meeting, the Cuban leader reiterated Cuba’s unwavering support for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to established their State, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,’ the newspaper adds.

According to Granma, Díaz-Canel also ratified Cuba’s rejection of the U.S. government’s unilateral decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.

For his part, Saidam, who is participating in the congress University 2018 in this capital, thanked Cuba for its support for the cause of the Palestinians, and expressed the will to strengthen bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation
