QUITO, Ecuador. – A chair Fidel Castro was created in Ecuador to promote and disseminate the idea and legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, his vision of Latin American integration and internationalism.

The National Academy of History was the place chosen for the opening ceremony, which brought together intellectuals, members of the Communist Party of Ecuador, the Coordinator of Solidarity and Friendship with Cuba, and representatives of the Embassy of Havana in Quito.

The panel titled Fidel and Che, Internationalism and Health, which constituted a space to reflect on the historical legacy of both fighters for justice and welfare for the most deprived, was the event that opened the chair.

The opening coincided with the commemorative program for the birthday of Ernesto Che Guevara, and that of the Cuban General of the Mambi Army, Antonio Maceo.
