Ottawa, Canada.- The Canadian government will hold consultations with several national sectors for an eventual ban on short firearms, as part of a strategy to fight the violence, the press revealed today.

The newspaper The Globe and Mail specified that Justin Trudeau Executive wants to discuss the matter, despite the sharp rejection of the conservative opposition.

The initiative will be completely ineffective, counterattacked Andrew Scheer on the eve, the highest figure of the Conservative Party.

The consultations will be conducted by Bill Blair, Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction, who was also police chief in Toronto.

Precisely, Blair will start his national tour next Sunday in that city, where he will explain the subject.

The format of these meetings is still under debate, but the authorities want to hold public hearings, meetings with experts, and even send written presentations, specified the publication.

According to the newspaper, this measure ‘will fuel a national debate on the need for stricter arms control and the appropriate response to the growing crimes in the country.’
