Bie, Angola.-The governor of Bie, Manuel de Boavida Neto, has thanked Cuba for their colossal internationalist support and cooperation.

‘Cuba is present in the construction and reconstruction of the new Angola. We have its support in the economic, political, social sectors’, De Boavida Neto said on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrisons, on July 26th, 1953.

The event, commemorating the attack on Moncada Garrison, the 90 birthday of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on August 13th and the 74th birthday of Angolan President, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, on August 28th, is, “a sincere way to pay tribute to the struggle of our peoples. We are a same people, a same nation,” he said.

We are aware that Cuba will win … and Angola will win, said the governor of Bie, which is located 600 kilometers southeast of Luanda.

The secretary general of the Angola-Cuba Friendship Association, Fernando Jaime, previously thanked the Cuban people for their support for the independence of Angola and the government of this province for hosting the activities for the historical date, instituted as National Rebellion Day in Cuba.

The charge d’affaires at the Havana embassy in Luanda, Hector Ramirez, spoke about the Moncada action, involving a group of young people led by Fidel Castro.

Agricultural instruments, fertilizers and cleaning products were donated today by political authorities and those of the African League to more than 200 rural women in the region and traditional chiefs from these communities.

Cuban collaborators and residents, representatives of the diplomatic staff, Los Caimaneros’ organization (Angolans who studied on the island) and members of the Association of Environmentalist Cadets and Women, also attended the event.
