Luanda, Angola.- Officials from Cuba and Angola have agreed on Monday on the need to broaden economic and commercial ties to the level of those existing in the political and diplomatic fields.

The statement was made on Monday by the Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, during a three-day visit to Luanda, as Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between both countries, and his Angolan counterpart, Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Frederico Cardoso.

During the opening of the 14th session of the Angola-Cuba Intergovernmental Mixed Commission, scheduled to conclude next Wednesday, Cabrisas explained Havana’s interest in deepening bilateral ties on the occasion of President Joao Lourenzo’s next visit to Cuba.

With this purpose it is necessary to intensify both sides’ work in the drafting of the documents to be signed during this stay, he said in the presence of Cardoso, Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto and the delegations of both countries.

He called for joint work to ensure the presence of Angolan companies in Cuba as part of the Cuban strategy to encourage foreign investment in development plans until 2030.
