Diaz-Canel attends National Association of the Blind Congress

Diaz-Canel attends the 8th Congress of the National Association of the Blind of Cuba.

HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel attends this Monday the first day of the 8th Congress of the National Association of the Blind in the Convention Palace of Havana, with the participation of delegates from all the Cuban provinces.

Topics such as accessibility, not only in terms of architectural barriers, but information and transport, among others, will be addressed at the event.

The 8th Congress of the National Association of the Blind began in Havana and extends until next December 4 under the motto For Inclusion, Conquering the Future without Barriers; and it is an essential opportunity to discuss aspects of the internal life of the organization.

Jorge Luis Cala, president of the National Association of the Blind of Cuba, said that more than 200 delegates, the Latin American Union of the Blind, as well as the World Union and the ONCE Foundation for the Solidarity of the Blind in Latin America participate.

They will also discuss on the importance and need to enhance blind people’s participation in sports such as judo and athletics.
