HAVANA, Cuba.- With health coverage in all its geography and achievements at different levels of care, Cuba will celebrate the World Health Day, established on April 7.

Cristian Morales, representative in Cuba of the World and Pan- American Health organizations, praised the Cuban indicators, compared to the results of developed nations, especially infant mortality rate, which recorded 4 per 1000 births live last year, the lowest in the Americas.

Morales also highlighted, among other results, the elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases such as malaria, and the certification for two more years of the elimination of mother-child vertical transmission of HIV and congenital syphilis.

Morales pointed out that Cuba has much to show the world in terms of universal coverage, a theme that defines this year’s campaign for the ephemeris.
