The Vice-President of the National People’s Power Assembly and the State Council denounced the U.S. blockade of Cuba.

BELGRADE, Serbia.- The Vice-President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State, Ana Maria Mari Machado, denounced to the parliamentarians of the world the upsurge of the hostile policy of the U.S. government against Cuba.

Speaking at the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which takes place in Serbia, Mari Machado asserted that the siege by Washington is a massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of the people, and the main obstacle to the Cuban development.

During her speech, the Vice-President of the National Assembly of People’s Power called for strengthening international law if we aspire to a more just and equitable world order.

Mari Machado pointed out that multipolarity, respect for democracy and equity are fundamental pillars for finding lasting solutions to the problems affecting Cubans, and said that Parliaments can make an important contribution to these ends.
