Cuba and Vietnam reaffirm strength of relationships.

HAVANA, Cuba.-Chancellor Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla received this Monday the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Binh Minh, and in official talks they reaffirmed the mutual interest to continue strengthening the historical and brotherly links.

Rodriguez Parrilla reminded his counterpart that his arrival in Havana last Sunday coincided with the date of the birth of the father of the Vietnamese homeland, Ho Chi Minh, and the fall in combat of the national hero of Cuba, Jose Marti.

The Cuban Chancellor evoked the words of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, when decades ago said we were willing to give up our own blood for Vietnam.

This feeling marks bilateral relations and will be for future generations, Rodriguez Parrilla said and added that 2018 was very productive, with exchanges at the highest level.

Two Peoples in the Construction of Socialism

When receiving Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister of Vietnam, Cuban Chancellor Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla underlined both countries enter the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic ties.

The head of the Cuban diplomacy said that for Cuba it is very important to exchange experiences with Vietnam about the construction of Socialism and acknowledged the good progress of economic, commercial, investment and cooperation links with a promising future.

The Vietnamese Chancellor said that relations between the States, Governments and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba are very special, nourished by their historical leaders Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, and it is a duty to continue fostering them.

Pham Binh Minh pointed out the relevance of visits by top Vietnamese leader Nguyen Phu Trong to Cuba and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to Vietnam last year.

Cuba and Vietnam Sign Political Consultation Plan

Cuba’s Chancellor, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Pham Binh Minh, signed a political consultation plan for the period 2020-2022.

The program, signed in Havana, aims to strengthen the political dialogue on issues of interest in the bilateral and multilateral sphere between the chancelleries of the two countries.
