About the election of provincial governors and vice-governors in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba.- A few days from January 18, a date set for the election of provincial governors and vice-governors, Radio Reloj dialogues with member of the National Electoral Council Lidia Montes de Oca, in search of the most up-to-date information on this new election exercise.

Montes de Oca explained that day the delegates of the Municipal People’s Power Assemblies from all over the country, constituted in electoral colleges, will meet simultaneously to exercise their free, direct and secret ballot.

The official recalled that, as established by the Constitution, it is for the President of the Republic to propose the candidates for governor and deputy governor in each province.

The member of the National Electoral Council described as a strength and expression of democracy the fact that the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies, nominated and elected by the people, elect the new positions.
