Havana, Cuba.- Health psychologists from 11 countries will participate in the 8th Latin American Congress of that discipline, to reflect on the requirements posed by this science, said the organizers.

Convened by the Latin American Association of Health Psychology, ALAPSA 2018 will be held from May 14 to 18 at the Havana’s Convention Center, with the participation of 270 Cuban delegates and about 300 foreigners.

Latin American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay, as well as Spain, an European nation, will be represented at the event, in which Cuba is the host country for the second time after 2005.

Emerging themes such as family and community health, chronic degenerative diseases, addictions, violence and abuse, as well as well-being and quality of life will be addressed at the congress, said at a press conference Olga Esther Infante, president of the organizing committee.

The scientific program includes conferences of outstanding personalities (38 in total) from different regions of the world, and also collective activities such as round tables, panels and symposia (bringing together 117 works).

180 papers in electronic or traditional poster form and 147 works in thematic sessions or as free themes will be also presented by the experts.
