Havana, Cuba.-Experts from over 20 countries of the world are gathering at Havana’s Conventions Center on Monday for the 2014 International Congress of Cuba’s Labiofam Entrepreneurial Group, which will present its most recent experiences in the production of pharmaceuticals for humans and veterinary use.
The congress includes lectures and debates on the use of bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides and other biological products, as well a pharmaceuticals to fight cancer. According to the program, agriculture ministers from 15 nations are scheduled to attend the congress, as well as representatives of international health organizations, the UN Development Program and other entities.
Havana, Cuba.-United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met on Sunday with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who is heading the island’s delegation to the 69th Session of the General Assembly, to open on Wednesday, September 24th.
During the meeting, Ki-moon expressed his appreciation to Cuba for its rapid response to fight Ebola in Africa and asked to forward his message of gratitude to President Raul Castro.
The UN secretary general stressed the need for all countries to contribute to the effort, saying that others should follow the example given by Cuba.
Havana, Cuba.-Fruit tree plantations increase in CubaLAS TUNAS, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Cuba has more than two thousand new hectares of fruit trees, as a result of the work done by groups of urban agriculture in each province.
Upon completion yesterday in Las Tunas of the 66th tour of the National Group of Urban and Suburban Agriculture, chaired by Dr. Adolfo Rodrígurez Nodals, he explained that the areas are located in 96 cooperatives of different territories, incorporated in the last 30 days. Rodríguez Nodal told ACN that each cooperative has at least 20 hectares, where different varieties of fruit will be enhanced, including those that are running out, as mamoncillo, cashew, canistel and lime, among others.
